“As much as 40% of our clients are not passing the majority
of their wealth onto their children.”
“Generalising, self-made clients are less keen to pass on all
their wealth to their heirs than ‘old-money’ clients.”
“I would say it’s 50/50 – but moving more towards those
considering not passing on most of their wealth.”
The findings demonstrate that preserving and passing on wealth is no longer
the sole focus of many clients’ estate planning strategy. There is a growing
expectation that where wealth will be inherited, the recipients will have to put
in the effort in to develop the skills and experience to respect and manage the
wealth.
