“I love making my own decorations and I
bring in a lot of nature to create wreaths
and garlands, it feels really humbling and
authentic. When people come over [at
Christmas time] they ask ‘oh, where do you
get that from?’ and I’ll say, ‘well, I just picked
that up from the street when I was walking
the dog!’
I really think decorating is about having fun,
learning new crafts along the way, and for it
to be a really exploratory process rather than
getting last year’s tinsel out and whacking it
on your plastic tree. And if you don't enjoy
decorating, then just keep it minimal.”

CHRISTMAS

“Forget the shiny plastic baubles and tinsel!
When Christmas comes to the Walker
household, we love to make the most of
the ‘natural’ – spices wrapped in twine and
clove and decorated citrus fruits are the way
forward for us.
The table becomes the centerpiece of our
living space – this year we will be looking to
have our washed cotton table runners with
matching napkins (each napkin is wrapped in
twine and decorated with a bundle of dried
flowers/grasses) to beautify our eating space.
Each year we like to bring the outside in - we
head out to forage for holly, teasels, thistles
and mistletoe to decorate our suspended
table centerpiece – hung from the ceiling, a
carefully curated gathering of natural or dried
florals can make a stunning
table feature.
Think how many times you
have bought the baubles
and the shiny stuff – this
year think more natural
and more sustainable this
Christmas!”
