Durodeen Profiles
Durodeen Profiles
Wood v Durodeen® Case Study
To compare the cost of Durodeen® profile with a similar shape timber profile
The following Case Study was carried out with a joinery company, looking at the cost
implications from using a DuroDeen® profile instead of their timber profile.
Typical cost to produce a timber glazing bar:
1 metre treated timber, 25 x 150mm
=
£6.75/m
Based on this providing 7 metres of glazing bar, 1 metre
of raw timber glazing bar.
=
£0.96/m
Add to this machining costs, dependant on type of bar
and machine.
=
£1.00/m
Plus sanding required and timber wastage
=
£0.50/m
So a typical cost for finished timber glazing bar
(unpainted)
=
£2.46/m
Same profile supplied pre-machined in DuroDeen®
(and it won’t ever rot...)
=
£2.95/m
So for a small increase in cost you have a product which
brings you and your customer multiple benefits:
Extends the life of your timber door or window Beads, drips and profiles are typically the first things
to rot and fail on doors and windows but Durodeen
does NOT absorb moisture and will NOT rot.
Much more dimensionally stable than timber.
You don’t have the hidden cost of machine downtime
or the Health & Safety risks often associated with
machining timber profiles.

“The key question was could we scribe a pre-moulded bar
without it splintering? We ran a few tests on the single headed
tenon and was very pleased to see a clean scribe. Armed with this
knowledge we order the moulded Durodeen bar and now use it
on all our doors and windows that have Georgian bars.
The combination of the time saving, improved product quality
and paint finish has further added to the overall quality of our
finished doors and windows.” Joinery company, Hampshire
