Chancay Bird Effigy Whistling Vessel
Late Intermediate Period: 1000 – 1476 A.D.

Overall: 7 3/4 x 8 x 7 in. (19.7 x 20.3 x 17.8 cm)
This vessel is painted with red linear motifs on a cream background. The
figure of a bird stands upright alongside the vessel, positioned frontally,
wings tucked. The head and large beak are painted red, contrasting with
a cream torso and throat. The long beak suggests an aquatic species.
