Moche Stirrup Vessel with Man and Bird
Early Intermediate Period – Middle Horizon: 200 – 900 A.D.
Ceramic: Creamware with red paint
Overall: 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 x 6 3/8 in. (18.4 x 11.4 x 16.2 cm)
A middle or late Moche mountain setting with a bird perched on what
seems to be a rock surrounded by cacti. On the front of the vessel is a small
man shooting at the bird from behind the barrier with a blowgun. Painted
vegetation appears on the sides of the vessel.
