BUYING YOUR CURRENT

A small number of Cornerstone properties
have the Right to Acquire which enables
tenants to buy their own homes with the
assistance of a grant. Please contact us if
you wish to find out whether you’re eligible
to apply.
SHARED OWNERSHIP
DEVON HOME CHOICE (DHC)
DHC is a regional choice based lettings
scheme which covers Devon. DHC is
used for the allocation of the majority of
social housing vacancies in Devon and is
run in partnership with local authorities
and other housing providers, including
Cornerstone. To move to an empty social
housing home you will need to apply to
DHC at www.devonhomechoice.com. If
you need help applying get in touch.
Shared Ownership is a way of buying a
home by part owning and part renting. If
you would like to know more about this
type of scheme and whether we have any
properties available, please take a look at
our website.
DOWNSIZING
If you are living in a home that is too
large for your needs you may be entitled
to some help to downsize to a smaller
home. Please see our website for more
information or call us.
MUTUAL EXCHANGE
You may be able to mutually exchange or
‘swap’ homes with another Cornerstone
tenant or with a tenant from another
Registered Social Landlord or Council
(subject to certain conditions). To find an
exchange partner you can register with
www.homeswapper.co.uk. Once you have
found a swap all parties will need to apply
to all landlords involved. The process from
application to a decision on the exchange
can take up to six weeks.
