HELLO AND WELCOME FROM JANET
Welcome everyone in these strange times. I hope you
are all well and coping with what has been thrown at us.
Now we are into lockdown number 2!
During lockdown 1, we saw tenants busy in their
gardens and I think Cornerstone tenants are going to
have the best gardens in Exeter! Now with the winter
approaching, what projects are people going to do?
Make Christmas decorations, or even homemade presents?
On a personal basis I would like to thank all tenants. I have been hearing about
some of you helping in your own communities to make this lockdown easier
for your neighbours; tea parties, shopping for those that are housebound and
so much more (all within the 2 metre separation of course). Again, we need to
look after people as we did before, making sure they are warm, fed and have
someone to chat with on the doorstep or phone.
I know Cornerstone would love some of your stories and photos of what you
have been doing during this time; social history in the making.
There will be Zoom meetings between Cornerstone and the Performance
Panel to discuss one or two papers that we have been working on. We will be
discussing what policy we need to look at next to bring it up to date and in line
with government guidance. It would be nice to think that the Panel can once
again resume a human contact meeting by 2021.
Cornerstone will be working through Lockdown 2 as normal as can be so if you
have any concerns, please contact Cornerstone either by phone or visit the
website at www.cornerstonehousing.net.
Once again, thank you everyone for all your support and mindfulness during
this very stressful time.
Keep Safe and Well.

TALK MONEY WEEK 2020
Talk Money Week takes place between 9 -13 November and is an annual campaign
to get the nation talking about money. Many of us find talking about money and
discussing issues with our finances very difficult, but you don’t need to struggle alone.
This initiative provides a platform for you to have a conversation with your family and
friends; the idea being that we can turn talking about money into something more
commonplace.
Why Talk about Money
Talking openly about money, as well as any other issues
that may be worrying us, is vitally important for our
health, wealth and relationships. The hardships related
to Corona Virus have now made it more important than
ever to start conversations and ask for help if needed.
Research shows that people who talk about money:
• Make better and less risky financial decisions
• Have stronger personal relationships
• Help their children form good lifetime money habits
• Feel less stressed and anxious
Being more open about this subject could encourage
people to take action to improve their financial wellbeing and that of those around
them. There are lots of ways you can take action yourself, such as accessing free debt
advice, taking steps to save regularly, educating yourself on financial matters and
relying less on credit for everyday spending.
