– Roadmap to decarbonise our business
Roadmap – Clean Air Zones
The Government has a short term Strategy, to improve air quality in the UK with Clean Air Zones.
It’s long term Strategy, Climate Act 2008 & UK Climate Plan achieves Net Zero Emissions by 2050.
Local Authorities are responsible for implementation of Clean Air Zones (CAZ)
A CAZ is defined as an area where targeted action is taken to improve air quality & health.
Each Authority had to submit an Air Quality Improvement Plan to Government by March 2018.
Once approved, an Authority will receive funding to set up the CAZ.
At the date of this Policy October 2021 three Clean Air Zones exist, Bath, Birmingham & London.
They operate 24 hours a day with penalty charges to change attitudes, increase awareness &
stimulate use of emerging Carbon Technologies & GREEN INVESTMENT in low emission vehicles.
To avoid being charged in a Clean Air Zone, vehicles must meet the following CAZ standard:
•
Euro 3 for motorcycles, mopeds, motorised tricycles & quadricycles (L category)
•
Euro 4 for petrol cars, vans, minibuses & other specialist vehicles
•
Euro 6 for diesel cars, vans, minibuses & other specialist vehicles
•
Euro VI for lorries, buses, coaches & other specialist heavy vehicles
Our transport fleet, HGVs, cars, vans are a primary source of exhaust gas emissions BUT
using the latest Carbon Technologies & design
comply with the UK Clean Air Zone standard
