Lustleigh Village Show
26 August
Lustleigh
Held on the August Bank Holiday Monday, the show
hosts a wide range of exhibitors, including arts and
crafts, local history, food and drink and local produce.
Much like other traditional shows, it also judges
livestock and has a fun dog show.
Widecombe Fair
10 September
Widecombe-in-the-Moor
Widecombe Fair has historically held a central position
on the local agricultural scene, and although nowadays
no buying and selling of cattle takes place, the Fair
continues to thrive as a showcase for all things local,
traditional and agricultural - it remains a real ‘farmers’
Fair, and is a great social occasion these days.

Goose Fair
9 October
Tavistock
This traditional fair dates back to the early 12th century
and originally provided the opportunity for business
and animal trading. Things have changed a lot since
then, but the community nature and traditional stalls
remain, and of course, the geese.

Working Sheepdog Demonstrations, Summer 2024
A firm favourite at most shows are the sheepdogs.
To find out how farmers train their dogs for work
and for competitions, come along to a sheepdog
demonstration. Hosted by champion sheepdog trainers
Jed and Kenny Watson who have farmed on Dartmoor
all their life, you’ll have plenty of chances to ask
questions about farming or training dogs. No booking is
required, just meet in the car park outside the National
Park Visitor Centre at Postbridge.
