Northern edge of Ivybridge
town, 9 miles east of
Plymouth, o昀昀 the A38.
Character:
Riverside, trees, valley and
very sheltered.

be found at The Watermark,
Ivybridge.

The suggested walking route will help you
experience some of the delights of this lovely
part of Dartmoor. Please be aware of your
own limitations and navigational ability before
embarking on any of the routes described.
This pleasant woodland route follows the river
Erme upstream from just below the railway
viaduct, passing a series of small waterfalls and
pools. A昀琀er 1km there is an information board
and handy picnic area overlooking the river.
The River Erme begins its life at the Erme head
(in the heart of the southern moor) and 昀氀ows
in a generally southerly direction past some of
the best preserved archaeological remains on
Dartmoor, to the coast near Holbeton; a journey
of some 24km.

Keep an eye out for dippers and grey wagtails
along the river, and buzzards and
ravens further up the valley.
Some splendid redwood
trees can be seen on the
opposite side of the river
in Erme wood.
