the Dartmoor National
Park. It’s visited by many
thousands of people
every year – especially
when the weather is
fine! – and is particularly
known for its prison
and many walking and
cycling routes.

Princetown’s heritage,
we’ve affectionately named
the new walk the ‘Ball
and Chain’ Historic Trail.
Along the trail, you can
see Princetown’s oldest
building The Plume Of
Feathers, built in 1785; an
ornate lamp post dedicated
to Queen Victoria’s Silver
Jubilee in 1887; the 1920s
building that once housed
the first power station, and
the nearby stable block
from the former Princetown
Railway station.

showing where you can
find these distinctive
features on an easy amble
from one end of the village
to the other.
Alongside hidden history,
the trail map shows the
location of cafés, pubs, and
food shops in Princetown, so
you can stay a little longer
and support local businesses.
