As a nation we’re obsessed with coffee,
with the average person drinking two cups
of the strong stuff a day.
Most busy towns and cities have a range of
barista coffee shops to serve the needs of the
nation, but what if you need your caffeine fix
when you’re exploring the depths of Dartmoor?
A growing number of coffee roasters are
popping up across the moor, providing visitors
and locals alike with great quality beans
produced in smaller, sustainable batches.
Here are some local coffee producers to look
out for:
Dawn Roasters, Princetown
Served up at the trendy Dewerstone coffee
counter in Princetown, and available to buy
online, these beans are single origin and sales
contribute to the 1% for the Planet initiative.
Voyager Coffee, Buckfastleigh
Dartmoor Coffee, Yelverton
An artisan, family-based coffee roasters located
within the National Park. Dartmoor Coffee
were established in 2020 and are all about
quality and freshness.
They roast and grind their beans on site, with
coffee available for purchase through their website
and available for pick up if you’re passing.
Keep an eye out if visiting the Tavistock Pannier
Market as the family team are often there,
brewing up their fresh coffee beans for you to
try and buy.
Owens Coffee, Ivybridge
100% organic and Fairtrade, Owens beans are
sourced from ethical estates and roasted with
perfection on the edge of the moor. Beans,
brewing gear and coffee experiences can be
bought on their website. Or you can nip into
their new Perfect Waves Café in Ivybridge and
enjoy drinking their beans in a cosy café setting.
Award-winning and sustainable, you can sample
a hand roasted Voyager brew at a number of
coffee shops and hotels across Dartmoor.
