Our work in caring for the moor and preserving
its history through the Dartmoor Archive
depends on your legacies and donations.
RECENT AND ON-GOING ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
Grant aiding practical projects that benefit the Dartmoor
area, its landscape, communities and visitors.
Archiving the nationally important collection of 27,000 images in the Dartmoor Trust Archive.
Digitising the important R. Hansford Worth photography
collection. We now need volunteers to enter the detail.
Helping to improve the Heritage Environment Record and
make it more accessible to the public.
Recording and exhibiting Dartmoor Life in the First World
War with an on-line educational resource for schools.
Restoring and repairing leats at a cost of £10,000.

Wild woodlands
of the moor
With its stark moors, rugged dramatic tors and
hardy ponies, Dartmoor is well known for its
spectacular views and inspirational landscape.
Its wooded valleys contain some of the last
remaining fragments of England’s temperate
rainforests. Make time to discover the wild
woodlands of the moor with their gnarled trees
draped in ferns, mosses and lichens, and the rich
wildlife they contain.
Fingle Woods
It’s been five years since the Woodland Trust and the National
Trust came together to buy Fingle Woods and together we’ve
been gradually restoring this ancient woodland.
Explore 26 miles of footpaths, take in spectacular views and
discover its fascinating history.
From Otters to Owls by Steam
Join us this summer to discover more about Fingle’s heritage and
wildlife and celebrate the successes of the Bringing Fingle
Woods Back To Life project. There will be something for
everyone with events, walks, performances and hands on
