Perfect 10s at Hagans Croft dressage finale
S
ATURDAY,
March 4 saw
the final
of Hagans
Croft’s
Summer dressage
league being held.
Horses and riders
were turned out
immaculately and
some very accurate
tests were ridden
in front of judge
Fiona Young. The
final was open to
all competitors,
although only those
who had qualified
were entitled to be
placed within the
league, therefore
two separate prize
givings took place.
The Intro class
has had fantastic
entries throughout
the league, with the
top six placings all
up for grabs on the
day and within the
league. On the day,
Joanna Tarasewicz
and ‘Prince Harry
Trotter’ made her
mark on the Intro
class, as they strode
into first place to
receive a superb
score of 83.26%.
Nicky Greeves and
‘Sadie Sue’ have
been working hard
throughout the five
weeks and all their
hard work certainly
came to fruition
when they saluted
to a score of 80.65%
and second place.
This was enough for
them to go on to be
INTRO FINAL: Joanna Tarasewicz and ‘Prince
Harry Trotter’ won the Intro class final at
Hagans Croft. (FW10-579NN)
awarded first place
in the Intro league,
followed by Violet
Campbell and ‘Jet’.
Once again, the
Newcomers class
had an increase in
numbers throughout
the five-week league.
This was very
encouraging to see,
as this class was
primarily added for
those wishing to
move up a level from
a walk trot Intro
test to a Prelim test,
which introduces
canter transitions.
There wasn’t much
movement between
‘on the day’ placings
and the Newcomers
league placings, with
Abbie Cummins and
‘Cassie’ holding on
to their top spot on
the day and also
receiving a perfect
10 for their centre
line - what a way to
end the Newcomers
league! It has been
a pleasure watching
this pair develop
over the league
and Hagans Croft
looks forward to
being part of their
future successes.
Eleanor Wheeler
and ‘Casper’ were
delighted with their
second place rosette
on the day and
second place rosette
and prize for the
Newcomers league.
The Prelim class
saw a few new
faces taking on the
challenge, however,
it was Judith Auten
and ‘Kevin’, who
wowed the judge
Fiona Young on the
day. Saluting to the
highest score of the
day, 85.79%, and first
place both on the

day and within the
league. Second in the
Prelim league went
to Cathy Cowan and
‘Bridge of Stars’.
Reese Hogg and
‘Smythy’ performed
a near faultless
British Dressage
Novice 27 test,
finishing on a great
score of 83.21% and
a perfect 10 for their
centre line to claim
first place! Olivia
Pele and ‘Mirlo Mon’
also gave a sterling
performance,
saluting to a score
of 80.36%. This is
Olivia’s highest
score of the league
to date and the blue
ribbon was certainly
well deserved. On
the day placings
and league placings
remained the same
and Reese and Olivia
were delighted to be
sporting their red
and blue rosettes
once again - well
done ladies!
Reese Hogg and
‘Smythy’ went
on to make light
work of the British
Dressage Elementary
test - bettering
their previous
score within the
Novice test, the
pair achieved 85%
and first place. It
was a winning red
day for the pair, as
they also took home
the Elementary
league rosette.
Victoria McCandless
and ‘Koolstyle’
came home with
second place in the
Elementary league,
but then went on
to win the Medium
class. It is lovely to
see a competitor ride
a dressage test at
this level and long
may it continue,
as ‘Koolstyle’ is 24
years young and still
out loving his job.
Thanks are
extended to all the
competitors who
supported this event
throughout the five
weeks. Thanks also
go to judge, Fiona
Young; scribes and
stewards, who keep
these events running
so smoothly every
week! Thank you to
both Black Horse
Photography and
to Morgane Frey
Photography for
covering the event
throughout the five
weeks.
Hagan’s Croft is
now preparing to
start their fiveweek Working
Hunter League and
NIF Qualifiers on
Saturday, March
11. This event is
pre-entry only,
with entries closing
each Thursday
at 8pm. To enter,
