Ballyeaston fundraiser for Alzheimers
BALLYEASTON Vintage Tractor Club has raised
£1,000 for the Alzheimers Society.
Speaking at the club’s annual dinner at McConnell’s
of Doagh, chairman Warwick Manson explained:
“Back in February, we invited Aisleen Hamill from
the Alzheimers Society to give a talk at our club
meeting. It was then that the club decided that our
nominated charity of 2017 would be Alzheimers’
Society.”
The funds were raised throughout the year but as the
chairman added: “The lion’s share of the donation
was acquired from the barbeque at the Gathering
in June, solely due to the generosity of Jackson’s
Butchers of Ballynure who donated everything for
the barbeque. Without this generous donation, our
subscription to Alzheimers would have been much
reduced, and we’re indebted to Jackson’s for their
support!”
And the Gathering this year was back in Ballyeaston,
after a few years on the lands of Ian McKee, Glynn,
and prior to that at Sixmile Park in Ballyclare. As Mr
Manson recalled: “The Gathering was in combination
with the Church Ladies Family Fun Day. We were
blessed with good weather, and hope to build on and
expand the event in the coming years.”
Mr Manson had earlier welcomed the large turnout
of members and friends who support the club every
year and thanked the staff of McConnell’s of Doagh
for the delicious meal.
The post dinner entertainment was by Jean and Andy
Pollock.
