HOW CAN I CHANGE NEGATIVE BELIEFS?
HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO MY FUTURE CAREER?
Seek out experiences that disconfirm the belief:
For example, hang out with new people who help
you feel better about yourself. This would lead to
you having more success socially and feeling
If you can learn the skill of managing your beliefs, you
will not be limited to what you believe is possible for
you. This counts for every area of your life, including
your career and could be related to:
Analyse your belief:
Imagine you are interviewing the belief at a police
station. Be critical of it and ask questions like;
Where did that belief come from? Did someone
once tell you that you are awkward and weird?
Does that make it true in every situation? Name a
time you weren’t awkward and weird? This will
show you that the belief is not a fact. It can be
Create a positive affirmation to rewire that belief
in your brain:
For example, ’I can enjoy socialising with my
friends whilst feeling relaxed and confident’.
Repeat this to yourself often.
Visualise the outcome you want:
Imagine yourself in a social scenario acting with
confidence and ease. Do this regularly and
paritcularly before social interaction to avoid
feeling ’awkward and weird’.
