The Climate Report 2017/18 - Page 67

“We work to ensure that our climate
research informs the decisions made by
government, businesses and the public”
Stephen Mobbs, Director of NCAS
Against a backdrop of
uncertainty
in
climate
models and predictions,
NCAS has strengths in
analysing and understanding
the complex processes that
govern climate variability
and change. Our scientists
focus on physical aspects
of the climate system, as
well as the interactions
between different chemical
components
of
the
atmosphere.
NCAS builds partnerships
with other organisations
with complementary aims
and capabilities.
Our partnerships include
the Met Office Hadley
Centre, National Centre
for Atmospheric Research,
National
Oceanic
and
Atmospheric Adminstration
and the wider NERC
community.
Our collaborations are
designed to ensure that
the UK maintains and
strengthens its leading
internatwional position in
climate science, and hence
in climate forecasting and
provision of advice for
climate policy.
