About AMS
The American Meteorological
Society is a leading voice in the
global weather, water, and climate
enterprise. Founded in 1919, AMS
publishes and disseminates more
than 2,000 peer-reviewed articles
across eleven scientific journals.
We also host a number of meetings
every year, including our Annual
Meeting, which brings together
more than 4,000 attendees. Our
13,000 members include scientists,
researchers, educators, broadcasters,
students, and other professionals
working in the atmospheric, oceanic,
and hydrologic sciences.
Since our founding in 1919, AMS has
worked continuously to promote and
support science. Today, AMS remains
committed to ensuring that science
and the scientific process remain
front and center in the global climate
discussion. We have sent a number of
letters to various U.S. governmental
committees and agencies to
provide context, clarification and
understanding about climate science.
