The Prep School has had a very good year
on the tennis front. A strong squad of 16
players went to Rugby School for the IAPS
Tennis Championships. The highlights
were our U13 girls (Bella Blunden and
India Prince) reaching the final and our
U13B mixed team being crowned National
Champions. Mention must also be made
of our U11A Boys (Alfie Paffett and Toby
Blunden) for reaching the semi- finals.
Twenty teams took part in the Suffolk
Schools leagues across age groups ranging
from 8 and under to 13 and under.
Eighteen of these teams went on to make
County Finals with five teams becoming
County Champions (U8 girls, U10 girls,
U11 boys and girls and U13 girls). Seven
teams finished as county runners up. In
the U13 girls we filled the first three places

in the county with our B and C teams
performing exceedingly well. The U13
Girls team went on to become regional
champions in October (Beth Gardens, Anna
Cogdell, India Prince, Evie Newton)
The Girls’ Tennis Festival for the U11 took
place at the Senior School in June and was
a great event. Two teams
attended from the prep school and our A
team performed very well to finish 2nd in
this competition. Our B team, made up of
Year 5 girls, had a great day and came very
close to causing some upsets.
As ever we ran a Road to Wimbledon event
and both Nat Salsby and Beth Gardens
retained their titles and will go on to the
County finals in early July to try and qualify
to play at Wimbledon. The Year 4 School
Championship was won by Aden Ventham
and Mia Spaull took the title for Year 5. In
the senior age groups Beth and Nat were
victorious.
In July, 12 of our prep school players
travelled to Hazlegrove for the Prep Schools
National Championships. It turned out to
be an amazing week for our players. Out of
the 8 national titles on offer we came home
with 4 of them. Beth Gardens became the
U13 National Singles Champion and we
also had success in 3 doubles events: James
Tennant and Nat Salsby (U13 Doubles),
Beth Gardens and Anna Cogdell (U13
Doubles) and Mia Spaull and Evie Tassell
(U11 Doubles).
