IAPS U11 NATIONAL SAILING REGATTA –
WEYMOUTH AND PORTLAND NATIONAL
SAILING ACADEMY (WPNSA)
Although the Suffolk Schools’ Sailing Regatta was
cancelled there has still been plenty to cheer on the
sailing front. The scratch U11 team of Ollie Means and
Kit Beaver competed for the first time together in an RS
Feva dinghy at the IAPS Regatta.
This was held at the impressive 2012 Olympic venue in
Portland Harbour and after sailing three consistent races,
in what were tricky conditions, they were placed third
and gained the first IAPS medal for Prep School sailing.
Looking ahead it is hoped to begin regular weekly sailing
during the summer term.

Toby Jackson
Another successful year on the swimming front. Again
all pupils in the Pre-Prep department were able to swim
at least 10 metres by the end of the year with some able
to swim a lot further. Thanks to Jennie Cardin for her
patience and support.
SIMON MEANS
HEAD OF SAILING
We held some successful galas against local schools,
often putting up three teams showing the depth of
swimming ability across the school. The house gala was
also a roaring success as was the qualifying gala for
IAPS. Many PBs and records broken in these events.
The pinnacle this year had to be the swimmers who won
through to the IAPS finals held in the Olympic pool:
Anna Cogdell, Emily Brayshaw, Alex Harrop, U10 relay
team – Jessica Lamprell, Pip Stimpson, Evie Tassell,
Xanthe Eilledge and Grace Gurr – and finally our first
podium winner, Toby Jackson who won the silver medal
in the U12 50m freestyle event.
Enormous thanks must go to Audrey Tovey, Elaine
Cogdell and Dawn Foskett and all members of the
coaching team.
