CYRIL GRAY
2019
The team enjoyed the practice round on
Wednesday and settled on the 3 pairs for
the competition the next day.
Framlingham were the last match out at
13.40 on Thursday against Ampleforth.
An extremely close match ensued; Martin
Lamb and Barry Hitchcock secured an
early point as convincing winners. Hugh
Curle and Andrew Towler were nip and
tuck all the way to the 18th hole but
unfortunately could not secure the win at
the last to take the match to the 19th.

OFGS SPRING MEETING 2019
The OFGS Spring Meeting took place at Frinton Golf Club on Thursday, 9 May.
This was our fifth visit to Frinton and attracted a field of 20 players who were
well looked after as usual by the professional and other staff. We all enjoyed an
excellent lunch and social gathering. The weather was reasonable with a light
wind, some sunshine, but a number of heavy showers in the afternoon. There
were some good scores and the Captain won his own prize and cup with some
excellent golf, just holding off Matt and Hugh on count back.
Jonny Newton has agreed to carry on Captaining the 1st Team for the Halford
Hewitt while Hugh Curle has put together a strong young Grafton Morrish team
for the qualifying on 12th May. Michael Schneidau will carry on running the
Cyril Gray team. Barry Hitchcock is organising our teams for the fixtures against
Aldeburgh GC and the College.

They did however recover their position
mid-way through the match. They teed
off the last hole 1 down but were unable
to secure a win. The match was played
in very good spirits and really could have
gone either way however Ampleforth
moved into the next round as 2:1
winners.
