IT HAS BEEN A YEAR
OF ACHIEVEMENT AND
ENRICHMENT FOR COLLEGE
HISTORIANS.
Our students achieved some fantastic
examination results: A Level outcomes were
very impressive with 93% achieving A*-C
grades, 71 %A*-B and 29% A*-A.
A number of our students have gone on to
study History at university, including Russell
Group universities. 88% of GCSE pupils
achieved grades 9-4, 82% 9-5 and 27%
9-7.

THE FRAMLINGHAMIAN 2019
was arranged in late September to watch
‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ - Peter Jackson’s
tribute to the fallen of the First World War.
In mid-June, as part of a programme to
introduce their A Level coursework, Year 12
Historians were treated to a talk from Mr
Michael Turnbull on the history of Rosslyn
Chapel, and his debunking of the myths
surrounding the Da Vinci Code enthralled
us all.
Other trips included one to the Tower of
London and the Old Operating Theatre in
Southwark and, in June, Year 9s embarked
on their tour of First World War Battlefields,
visiting the Ypres Salient and Tyne Cot,
the largest British and Commonwealth
war grave cemetery in the world. The day
culminated with Josh Slay and Amy Spaull
laying a wreath on behalf of the College
during the Last Post ceremony at the Menin
Gate. It was informative but also incredibly
moving.
A very special visitor, Mrs Janine Webber,
came in late June to share her harrowing
testimony of the Holocaust. Janine has
dedicated her remaining years to ensuring
that we never forget what she and many
others went through. Her energy, generosity
of spirit and incredible resilience are an
inspiration to us all.
