Year 12 students were given a taste of the
sort of Assessment Morning they might well
face when applying for jobs, either after
school or graduation. Practice interviews
have been running successfully for five
years now, and we were grateful to the
23 parents who acted as interviewers. In
addition, we introduced practice in two
valuable skills - presenting, and performing
well in a group assessment. The former
came on the back of our well-established
Enterprise Event where guests bring in
real business challenges for the students
to engage with. Once again, there was
a fine array of imaginative, ambitious
thinking from the students, and the
practice of publicly presenting their ideas
in a formal setting is invaluable. The
inclusion of group assessments was hugely
successful as well, and all three aspects
focused on that vital and challenging skill
of simultaneously presenting oneself both
humbly and positively.
In-house talks on law, advertising
and property management have been
insightful, and another highly successful

a glimpse of working life in the city. Next
year, the London trip will be taking place in
the Spring Term. The Careers Department
is always pleased to hear from OFs and
parents who might be willing to host a
small group of students in their workplace
- the more opportunities we can give these
young people to see work in action, the
better placed they will be to make decisions
about their own futures.
