3rd XI
The 3rd XI had a very enjoyable season
with notable wins against RHS 2nd XI,
Woodbridge 2nd XI, Gresham’s and The
Perse, alongside some hard-fought draws and
only one loss in a disappointing performance
at Bishop’s Stortford College. James Cowell
and Henry Bevan scored the majority of the
goals with hat-tricks against Gresham’s and
Woodbridge respectively and Fred Fiske led
with composure from the back. A number of
players went on to represent the 2nd XI with
distinction in the England Hockey Schools’
Championships.

4th XI
This was a mixed season with some highs
(a 5-0 away win at Felsted) and lows (a 3-0
home loss against the RHS 3rd XI). I am
now closing my book of hockey coaching
after 31 years at Framlingham; it has
given me great pleasure seeing boys who
have not experienced the joy of playing
hockey, such as Leo Abery, become keen
and enthusiastic players. The team was led
from the front by Milo Capel Cure whose
enjoyment of hockey was infectious.
BOB SKITCH
U16
The U16 boys enjoyed a brief National
Cup run. Having received a bye in round
one, the team drew Woodbridge at home
in round two. On a baltic evening with
snow covering one third of the pitch it was
agreed to play 8v8 on 3/4 of a pitch. An
excellent performance saw a comfortable
5-1 win. The next round against Ipswich
saw a valiant effort and promising
performances from Harvey Paffett and
Rocco Iaccarino in particular but a 2-0 loss
saw their season come to an end.

U15 A
U14 A
It has been a tough season for the U15A
team with injury leaving Will Kilburn out
of the squad for the first half of term as
well as two players being promoted to the
1st XI on two occasions. The boys have
risen to the challenge across the term, they
have trained hard and worked together in
order to grow as a team. Despite only one
win this season against Felsted, they have
embraced the challenge and not allowed
other teams to win with ease.
It’s been an exceptional season for this
group of boys who have achieved a lot; on
the Saturday fixture card, they lost just one
game all season and went from strength
to strength as the term progressed. They
were crowned County Champions before
half term and finished top of their Regional
qualifier in the first week back.
In a tightly contested East Finals, they
missed out on a National Playoff with just
two minutes to spare; however, to reach
this stage is an achievement in itself and
testament to their hard work.

U15 B
The U15Bs have had a really tough season
this term. The boys fought hard and with
the right spirit in every game, including
some tight matches versus very strong
Norwich School and Felsted sides. Despite
the disappointing results, the boys have
thoroughly enjoyed their hockey this term
and made massive improvements across
the course of the season. Special mentions
go to captain David Wills, Bruce Daniels
(Player of the Season), Tom Yarrow (Hardest
Worker) and Ben Vernon (Most Improved
Player).

U14 B
The U14B team had a brilliant term. Team
selection was a (positive) headache, with
a squad of 16/17 competeing for places,
there was huge depth and strength within
the squad. The boys won their County Cup
and went on to the next round where they
competed valiantly against other schools’
A teams. It was a season built around the
enjoyment and passion the team had for
the game. This was admirable on many
levels and meant that their dedication to
training was brilliant; their reward was an
unbeaten Saturday fixture card.
