IT WAS ANOTHER EXCITING
DEVELOPMENTAL YEAR FOR THE
COMPUTING DEPARTMENT.
We expanded the KS3 curriculum by adding
text-based programming to both Year 6 and
7, which was enjoyed by the pupils.
It will be exciting to see how the coders of
the Prep School develop over the next few
years. We enjoyed success off the back of
our Scratch Club, where students designed
and coded their own retro-themed video
games for a competition at the University
of East Anglia. Oli George came third
place in the senior challenge on the day
which is extremely impressive as he was
competing against older students. Oscar
Ward and Finn McGovern won first place
for their game in the Primary age group.
Students also embraced the Make an App
and 3D Modelling after-school activity
which allowed them to learn and develop
new 21st century skills. Tommy Bell even
ended up 3D printing his own tortoise.
We were also delighted to host a
series of Robotics themed iCan
Saturday morning sessions which
were creative, popular and fun.
It was a successful year for the
department and we are looking
forward to establishing a new
Computing home in our modular building
from September.
