THE VACKEES
SENIOR PRODUCTION 2018
Set at the outbreak of the Second World
War, this was the funny, moving story
of the invasion of a Somerset village
by child evacuees from London – The
Vackees – and their adventures with the (at
first) hostile native children. The musical
centred around a young London lad,
Chloe Macmillan
Mimi Wilson and Dan North
Kip, played by Heather Alabaster, and
followed his first experiences of love and
war .The story unfolds with Kip saying
farewell to his mother and boarding the
train to an unknown destination. Notable
performances from Dan North as Mr
Constance, Mimi Wilson as Miss Maybee,
Amy Orford as Aunt Luce and Chloe
Mcmillian as Ellen, led the cast of nearly 60
pupils through the trials and tribulations of
life as evacuees.
When you add the show band and back
stage crew, over 75% of the senior part of
the school were involved in the production
and shows what an integral part drama
can play in the lives of children at the Prep
School. Well done to all involved.
