1st Girls
1st East IAPS Winners
and finishing 8th, losing out in the quarter
Finals on shuffles.
GIRLS’ HOCKEY
It would be remiss of me not to start the
report with the highlight of the girls’ hockey
season on a national stage where the
1st team were crowned National IAPS
Champions at Millfield in November.
What is clear from the senior team reports
from 1st to 6th team is the comments from
coaches about what a great group of girls
they were to work with, how hard they
worked in training sessions and how they
made fantastic progress.
The 2nd team often played against other
schools’ 1st teams and showed real
fight, often winning games. The 3rd team
enjoyed lots of improvement and special
mention was made of their decision-making
on the ball. The 4th team had lots of
rotation and found themselves more often
than not up against opposition 3rd teams
but enjoyed competitive, close games.
The 5th team had a completely even split
in terms of results, winning, drawing and
losing the same number of games, showing
a really competitive fixture card.
At U11 level, the A team were County
Champions and finished 3rd at the East of
England tournament whilst also becoming

THE FRAMLINGHAMIAN 2019
East IAPS Champions, which meant they
qualified for the National Finals at Rugby
School, a fine achievement.
The other senior teams had very successful
seasons, lots of goals and emphasis on
attacking hockey, which clearly produced
the expected outcomes.
The U11B girls continued to be consistent
and competitive in every game played.
The group really started to gel as a team
towards the end of the season.
The U11A team had a tough circuit but
should take real heart on the effort they
showed under the tutelage of Mr Rowe. The
remaining U11 teams had a very even set
of results and every coach commented on
the huge progress each team had made.
The U11C team made huge progress and
really impressed in their last match of the
season against Orwell Park. Equal pitch
time for all meant lots of opportunities to
play.
U9A had a fun season and proved to be
a good team but they must realise the
value of passing the ball. When they did
this at the Framlingham Tournament, their
progress was evident.
The U11D team had several players for
whom this was their first time playing
hockey and overall as a team, they have
grown tremendously. The girls remained
positive and worked hard to improve every
week.
The U9B all worked hard for each other
and really developed as a team, enjoying
an unbeaten season.
BOYS’ HOCKEY
Another action-packed term of boys’
hockey that was hampered slightly by poor
weather and meant the odd fixture was lost.
The boys’ 1st Team started poorly, but huge
credit to them for the way they responded,
finishing as IAPS East Runners-up,
qualifying for National Finals at Millfield
The C team were also unbeaten and by
the end of term the boys had learnt how to
create space and mark tightly.
U9D have come a long way and beginning
to recognise the benefits of spreading out
and passing the ball wide.
As ever a big thank you to the staff who
give so much to develop the hockey at the
Prep School, notably Mr Kingstone.
