Chapel Life is very much about just that –
life. The year has been rich and rewarding
in celebrating our spiritual wellbeing and
focusing on how we can share such vitality
with those in our community and beyond.
There have been some memorable
sermons: Rob Caskie spoke rousingly on

the Boer War and how the Chapel Pulpit
is a memorial to the fallen from that war.
Christina Johnston (OF) brought the first
term to a magnificent conclusion with her
contribution in our Carol Service at St.
Edmundsbury Cathedral. The New Year
was then welcomed with a talk by Peter
and Beverly Pickford on their expeditions
to the far reaches of our planet in search
of ‘Wild Land’, reminding us all of our role
as stewards of mother nature and the value
of ‘Wild Land’ to give us a taste of the
numinous.
This year’s Confirmation Service was another resounding success with twenty three
candidates being confirmed by The Right
Rev Martin Seeley on the 1st March 2019.
Significant anniversaries such as the 75th
anniversary of D-Day and the centennial
memorial of Agar’s VC were also marked in
Chapel. With family members attending the
service and the significance of the event,
BBC Radio Suffolk joined us on the day
and used the opportunity to share the news
more widely with interviews and a recording
of part of the service.
The year was brought to an end with the
frivolity of the Chaplain’s Picnic and the
deeply moving Leavers Service where the
College also bade farewell to Mr Skitch and
Mr Paul Taylor and his family. As is reflected
in his leaving cake, his humility, ethos of
servant leadership and heartfelt passion
for Chapel Life will long be treasured in
Framlingham College.
