COMPUTER SCIENCE
THIS WAS ANOTHER
FANTASTIC YEAR FOR
THE COMPUTER SCIENCE
DEPARTMENT.
We were delighted to see our GCSE
students achieve 70% (7 or above) with
all students achieving a pass mark. We
also enjoyed success in the Sixth Form with
all our students achieving a C or above.
It is great to see growing numbers in this
subject, with roughly a quarter of Year 10
signed up to study Computer Science next
year.
Our Year 10 students enjoyed a visit to
the Museum of Computing History in
Cambridge where they learned to program
devices, witnessed all types and ages of
computing innovations and devices and got
to see the largest processor in the world.
The department hosted a HTML and
Robotics Day for Year 10 where students
experience designing and creating a HTML
website for the school as well as learning
how to program robots to take part in a
balloon battle! Frankie Lorimer and Sophie
Lorimer enjoyed success in the University
of East Anglia’s annual ‘Scratch Off’
Competition, coming 3rd in the senior
students’ game design category. The
department was also delighted to launch
the Computer Science scholars on their
own personal projects which was excellent
to see; we are very excited about the future
for both the scholars and the subject here
at the College.
