SUBJECTS
PE
Two of the major highlights of the 20182019 academic year were the introduction
of the Sport Science course at Year 9 (which
focuses on various topics that students
could later study in the PE programme
including applied anatomy and physiology,
sport psychology and sport and society
issues) and the introduction of the new
Sixth Form course, BTEC Sport Level 3
Diploma, which sits alongside our A
Level PE. This BTEC Sport course is worth
2 A Level grades and is assessed very
differently compared with the A Level. We
are hugely excited to have such a vast
range of programmes now on offer here
at Framlingham College which includes
our GCSE PE course and practical courses
which include Core PE, Sport Science, Sport
Education, Personal Athletic Development
and Sports Leadership.
Exam results were once again excellent
across both GCSE PE and A Level PE
courses. At A Level over 67% achieved
above their expected grade and the same
percentage (67%) achieved grade A*-B
which is a tremendous achievement. In
particular, congratulations go to Rose
Winter on her A* grade. BTEC Sport (Unit
1, 2 and 22) saw many Distinctions and
Merits being achieved, which was fantastic
considering this was our first year through.
Finally, the PE society for the Sixth Form
students was a big success and debates
varied from the use of technology in sport
to the use of performance enhancing drugs.
These were conducted very well and great
credit goes to the students for their efforts in
researching and ‘buying in’ to such events.
