U15 A
This season has been a thoroughly
enjoyable one to coach where the girls
have given their all in training and matches,
both indoors and out and the girls have
not allowed an ever-changing squad to
affect their performance. With a hard start
to the season, the girls lost two out of the
first three games, however they did not see
this as a failure and they went on to win the
next 6 games, finishing the season with a
1-1 draw against a feisty Gresham’s team.
2nds
2nd XI
The introduction by the Hockey Association
of tiered competitions proved to be a great
success for the 2nd team. They were able
to play in meaningful cup games, often
against other schools’ 1st XIs. To the team’s
credit they qualified from the Suffolk pool
and then took part in a very enjoyable
Regional Elimination Final in Norwich and,
despite results not going their way, gained
a lot of confidence.
The team was jointly captained by Jasmine
Slater and Ella Sunderland and they both
set a fine example. Jas lead the forward
line superbly with her dynamic runs and
steely determination. She was supported up
front by her sister Amelia, Megan Jackson,
Charlotte Mears and, in the last few games
following her return to full fitness, Eve
Goodman. All were able to challenge the
opposition defences with their movement
and skill.
They should take great pride in both their
performances on the pitch and in their
fantastic team spirit.

4th XI
Goals were hard to come by for the 4th XI
and results were therefore disappointing but there was no lack of energy and effort
in matches. The team was made up of
both experienced players and those who
have only just taken up the game, and all
combined to produce some entertaining
hockey. Rose Dorber was an impressive
force in defence, and Rita Garcia
Hernandez and Eva Heinmann performed
athletically in midfield. A 4-1 victory over
RHS was the highlight.

U16 Indoor
Under the excellent leadership of Evie Hall,
who I thank for her efforts, this team has
had a commendable season and can be
proud of what they have achieved. Highlights were winning 1-0 against Norwich
with literally the final strike of the game and
a convincing 3 – 0 win away at Bishop’s
Stortford despite a late start and horrendous weather conditions. Probably the best
team performance of the season, however,
came against the Perse 2nd XI where the
whole squad contributed to an excellent
game against a strong side and came so
close to holding out for a draw.
The U16 Indoor group - a young but
incredibly talented side - played a single
game at the County Cup against Ipswich
School. An excellent performance from the
first whistle to the last saw a comfortable
win (7-1) with Hettie Meadows and
Georgie Gardens showing their carrying
ability with some surging runs to create
and score goals. The team travelled to
Queenswood for the East Finals knowing
a tough day was in front of them. They
started superbly with a 5-0 win against
Norwich School and continued winning
until they came up against an inspired New
Hall team who came from 4-1 behind to
level the game with the last play of a game:
a penalty stroke. Another draw against
Bromley meant it would all go down to the
last game against Bishop’s Stortford and
it turned out to be a thriller. We needed to
win by two clear goals to secure National
Finals hockey but a superb display and 2-1
win was just not quite enough.

U14 A
The U14As have had a pleasing season,
and it has been impressive to see their
development both as individuals, but also
as a team as the season has progressed.
Despite a slow start versus Oundle, the girls
have gone from strength to strength in their
Saturday block fixtures.
The squad were crowned Suffolk County
Champions without conceding a goal and
will look back on their Regionals experience
with perhaps a little disappointment in not
qualifying for the East Finals; however, this
will no doubt shape them for the years to
come.
Despite having a relatively small year
group, this age group has depth throughout
and an amazing worth ethic and mentality,
and when boosted with talented players
from The Prep School, certainly makes this
group of players ‘ones to watch’ for future
years.
SAM ROWE
U14 B
The U14B hockey team has had a mixed
year this season, taking some difficult
losses but then stepping up to the pressure
against some tough sides. The highlight
of the season came late on with a 0-0
draw against Norwich School. In this game
every player on the pitch made an impact,
allowing the team to secure an impressive
draw against very strong opponents.
Well done to all of the girls on their first
season, and for showing such tremendous
improvement.
