1st XI Girls
Played 6, won 1, lost 5
The girls’ 1st XI had a tough but enjoyable
season. Fixtures are becoming more
reliable but also more challenging, and the
quality of girls’ cricket in the area is clearly
improving at pace. A strong win against
Culford gave the College a chance to
show how they can control and dominate
a game, while other matches provided an
opportunity to learn and grow!
There were some impressive individual
performances in all games. Poppy Allen
and Georgie Cantrell performed well
with the bat, and Charlotte Mears picked
up some important wickets. Pip Morgan
bowled consistently well – her 4 for 5 in
4 overs against Culford was particularly
impressive. We say goodbye to her this
year after four years in the 1st XI, this last
one as captain, and thank her for the
important contribution she has made to
girls’ cricket.

1st XI Boys
The 1st XI played 17 games this year,
winning 10, drawing 1 and losing 6.
Considering the strength of fixtures, this
was a hugely successful season for what
was a very young 1st XI side. The leading
run scorers across all formats were 1st XI
captain Harry Bureau and Henry Bevan and
the leading wicket takers were Will White
and Henry Bevan, who both took over 20
wickets.

THE FRAMLINGHAMIAN 2019
benefit of the sport having been coached
from an early age, and with a 1st team this
year containing a large number of Year
11s, the prospects for the coming years are
very exciting.

Junior A Girls
The Junior As have had a fantastic season
working relentlessly to be the best they
can be. They have been fortunate to play
large amount of matches winning all bar
two Saturday fixtures. The girls finished
the season with the County Cup Final
on the Back. The result did not go as we
would have liked it but the girls put on a
spectacle of cricket with passers by stopping
to see how the game played out. The girls
have been a pleasure to coach this year
and we have been lucky enough to have
Mr Myburgh’s expertise at many of our
sessions. These girls are a group to watch
for the future.
Junior B Girls
The Junior Girls B team had a hugely
enjoyable 2019 season which saw some
very close games, some fantastic wins
but also some heavy losses. The start of
the term saw a very well contested match
against Culford which we only narrowly
lost and there then followed two fantastic
wins over Hartismere and St Joseph’s with
ChiChi Oduah in particular proving what
an outstanding all round cricketer she is
and coming out of the season with the
highest batting average and wicket taker.
However the team also suffered some heavy
losses against in particular RHS and Langley
but these defeats highlighted clearly to
the squad clear areas to work on and the
importance of learning to chase a score.
Once again the spirit of the season was
outstanding and the development, strength
and depth of girls cricket at Framlingham
College continues to grow and grow.

Harry Bureau
A couple of special mentions must go to
Henry Bevan for scoring 120 against Zayed
Academy and Ben Chapman for his 100 vs
Manchester Grammar School whilst on the
UAE tour at Easter, Will White took 5-25 vs
Taunton School in the Festival and Eddie
Darley took 5 wickets against Eastbourne
College in the same week. Some particular
highlights for the 1st XI were beating
Cambridge University after chasing 300 to
win in the final over, beating Suffolk U17s
by over 170 with a special innings from
Jonty Lecompte (95) and beating Taunton
School in the festival.
The Albert XI have also had a hugely
impressive season. This is a team made
up of a range of age groups under the
developmental umbrella. They finished the
season unbeaten with strong performances
by Fred Royall (Year 9), Henry Bevan (Year
11) and Ben Smart (Year 9) in particular.
We wish Maaz Dehlvi and Harry Bureau
(1st XI captain and leading all-rounder
over the years) the best of luck with their
cricketing careers.
