THE LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT
HAS HAD A SUPER 2019 WITH MRS
COVENTRY-KING JOINING THE
TEAM.
Year 8 performed really well in both French
and Spanish in their end of year exams and
have a solid platform to transfer to the next
stage moving towards GCSE.
Year 7 - Barcelona
We had two fabulous trips to France and
Spain. The first, to Paris in the Autumn
Term, was a wonderful mix of culture and
language, with walks along the Seine or
travelling by Batobus along the river, lots
of sightseeing, museum trips and some
classic French food, with ‘les crêpes au
nutella’ being a firm favourite. The second
trip, to Barcelona in the Summer Term, was
just as much fun. The city was beautiful
and vibrant. Gaudi’s gothic masterpiece,
the Sagrada Familia was enchanting
and the Camp Nou stadium exciting and
inspirational.
The Boqueria market visit for lunch was a
real experience. We took a boat trip on the
glittering and choppy Mediterranean along
the coast and visited Barceloneta beach.
The pupils practised speaking Spanish at
every occasion and were often heard saying
Isquisiera un helado por favor?
Pupils have also stretched themselves in
Year 7 and 8 by studying both Latin and
Mandarin.
