All you need to know

ith the onset
of winter just
round the corner and the
autumn equinox waning
steadily it’s time to think about the
preparations needed to enjoy those
prolonged winter sessions when the
hours of day light are drastically
reduced and the nights seem to start
after a late lunch and go on to midmorning. In order to focus on your
fishing properly at this time of year it
is of paramount importance to remain
warm and dry. The last thing you
want to happen on the session is the
onset of cold to the point where you
abandon the lake for the comfort of
your sleeping bag, or worse still home,
just because the icy wind was penetrating parts that some ladies couldn’t
reach! Appropriate clothing or
footwear need not cost a small fortune as there are many great products
to suit all budgets out there, and the
quality of the clothing is excellent
right across the price spectrum.
Firstly let us take a look at the type
of footwear you may need. It is often
overlooked as an essential bit of kit,
and there really is a mind-blowing

plethora of choice out there for the
hardcore carp angler. You don’t have
to limit your choice to specific fishing
tackle manufacturers because many
camping or outdoor pursuit stores will
have more than acceptable alternatives. Remember when buying boots,

and a good fit is paramount to encourage circulation and ultimately keep
those little toes toasty during those
long hours on the bank.
