Also available this month,
Big Carp Issue 259.
Miss it and miss out!
With spring in sight, this is an exciting time in the carp angler’s calendar.
There are choices to be made, tickets and tackle to be purchased and
important decisions to be made now that will affect the rest of the year.
Tickets are expensive and waiting lists long in many cases, so the right
water choice is at the forefront. Bait too will be on our minds, whether
to stick with a tried and trusted favourite or give something new a try. It
can be an expensive gamble, especially if contemplating a prebaiting
campaign. There are several carp shows over the next few weeks, so at
least we can have a look at the latest gear and bait before we buy.
For me a busy time too because I will not only be at the shows but
will be launching any new books that we have been working on for the
last few months. This issue will be free to download from the 1st
February, so our first show after that date will be The Northern Angling
Show at Event City in Manchester on Saturday and Sunday 24th and
25th February. This is a great show – all the major stands and some
great entertainment normally from Dean Macey, Ali Hamidi and the rest
of the Korda TV lads, always getting the crowd going with clips from
their forthcoming shows.
Then we have two shows in succession towards the end of March.
There is the Five Lakes Carpin’ On show on the 17th and 18th March just
outside Colchester and The Big One at the new state of the art
conference centre, opening that month at Farnborough Airport. I will be
at both of course but really looking forward to seeing what the new
venue will be like. I have driven past it on several occasions, and I must
say it looks amazing.
I will be bringing all our titles including the new ones launched
around Christmas, these being Paul Harris’s A Lifetime of Dreams and
Memories and Chris Woodrow’s One Step Beyond and our two new
additions to the Technical series – Syndicate Tactics and Tales, Day Ticket
Tactics and Tales, The New Big Carp 25th Anniversary book and The Big
Carp Rotary Letter Volume 5. I may even have Volume 3 of A History Of
Yateley, the book I am sending off to the printers as we speak, so fingers
I hope to see you at a one of these shows. Be lucky, Rob Maylin.
