Fish Legal has won an appeal in the
first stage of a claim being brought on
behalf of Devon Angling Association
in the Scottish courts. The Appeal
Court ruled that the Association has
the right to sue Scottish Water following a pollution of the river Devon with
12,000 litres of sulphuric acid in 2011.
The water company pleaded guilty in
the criminal courts to causing the pollution from acid tanks at the Glendevon Water Treatment Works. Despite
this, Scottish Water is spending thousands on defending itself against the
club’s claim for compensation. n
