Sewer cleanup
Fish Legal members, Torrington Commons Conservators, have welcomed
steps taken by South West Water to
clean, repair and re-line the entire route
of a sewer which discharged repeatedly
from two combined sewage overflows
into the river Torridge in 2017. Fish Legal
had requested information from the
water company after finding that the
records held by the Environment Agency
did not accurately reflect the frequency
of spills witnessed by anglers. n

Fishing across
the world
The first World Fishing Day has been
officially announced - it will take place
on Saturday, 23rd June and there will be
live broadcasts from 24 countries over
24 hours in partnership with Fishing TV.
The Angling Trust will be taking part
and also organising special Family
Fishing events to mark the occassion.
Over 600 people were introduced to
angling at our Spring Into Fishing
2018 events across England this
March. The campaign’s beginner
family sessions are ideal to help more
families start fishing and are funded
by Environment Agency fishing
licence income. There’s still a chance
to join in at the last event later this
month. n
