FL09June - Page 48

Stuart Unsworth went to Sandhurst in hampshire for 48 hours for a
team social with Viper Tackle. He was using chod rigs on all three
rods, using a standard Viper Tackle chod hook, size six, on a semi stiff
boom helicopter style. Bait wise on all three rigs he was using a
betalin and sweet almond 12mm washed-out pink pop-up, all on
singles putting no bait in until he could see showing fish in front of
him. The rod finally bent right over, so he knew he was into one of
Sandhurst’s finest, and after a short battle, a stunning mirror carp of
30lb 6oz graced his net, now a personal best England carp.
Neil Butterworth went to Farlows Lake for a 72-hour session. He was
fishing peg 44, and he spodded out about ten Spombs of crushed and
whole DNA Baits Nuttas boilie, chilli hemp and corn and pineapple
spod syrup. After the first 24 hours, he only had a bream to show for
his efforts. After seeing a lot of fish boshing, he decided to change
tactics and put a 6ft zig out on red foam soaked in DNA Baits
pineapple spod syrup. After only being out for about an hour, the rod
ripped of with a 28lb 2 oz common carp, his new PB. The wide gape SP
size 8 Viper Tackle hook was absolutely nailed in the bottom lip.
Jason Polley with a 23lb common caught on a Mainline washed-out
pink pop-up on a chod rig.
A 20lb 10oz mirror carp for Mitchell Henderson and his first 20lb’er for
this year, caught from Eye Kettleby Lakes, Melton Mowbray,
Leicestershire from the margin after seeing a fish jump out, using a
Dynamite Baits pop-up over a couple of handfuls of 12mm Dynamite
baits Complex-T boilies.
Paul Dozier caught a 29lb 10oz common caught using a 12mm Fin
Force Banoffee pop-up on a zig, fished over Monster Tier 1, and using
Castaway PVA cable ties on the Kracken Tackle lead clip to drop the
lead on the take.
Damo Lee was absolutely buzzing from his first overnight session of
the year, landing a brace of my local’s two biggest mirrors, both over
20lb. It way beyond expectations and what a way to start the year.
Castaway PVA nuggets were used to ensure the rig was perfectly
presented every time.
