Made In England
Happy? Me? You bet. Vince Brown
with a pukka Essex 40.
Even further away from that shape,
Crowy appears again with one of the
biggest carp in Yorkshire not currently
swimming in a garden pond. The creatively named ‘Big’un’ was caught,
after many years of trying, by Simon,
and I would assume that, at 43lb 8oz,
it’s a UK personal best. Well done, Si –
stunning fish, mate. Not to be outdone by a fellow writer, Crafty Carper
editor Lewis Porter bagged himself
another nice fish, this time in the
shape of a 37lb mirror, so was able to
deflect some of Crowy’s golden glow,
which is more than can be said by the
rest of guys at Carp-Talk – ‘incessant’
is a good description of Simon’s
explanation of the carp’s capture, I
believe.
There are a few more captures worthy of mention, and it’s nice to see a
lovely lady with a lovely carp. Treena
Jupe fished Monks Pool on the Isle of
Wight for only the second time, and
caught one of the most sought after
carp in there – the Linear at a little
over 40lb. Bloody good angling, girl,
especially as it was only its second
capture in almost six months. A few
other good‘uns were Phil Thomsen’s
lovely Oxfordshire mirror of 35lb, yet
another example of the cracking carp
to be found in and around the Thames
floodplain. Rob Buckner was also
pretty damned pleased with his first
floater caught carp of the year in the
shape of a 31lb common, and Vince
Brown ended a biteless seven months
in the finest possible way, by catching
a cracking 42lb mirror from Fryerning
Keith’s Carp of the Month
But the one that gets the Spirit Level is Simon Dale with this warrior of a mirror carp.
