Bottom Bait Rigs
F
between the two bottom baits. Not
only will this be more awkward, but
will look more natural. The way to
keep the two baits separate on the
hair is to tie a large granny knot on
the hair where you want the bait
that’s closest to the hook. This will
give this bait some grip so it won’t
slip down to the hook, or alternatively
up against the end bait that can be
fastened with a hair stop in the normal way. Once again this is a type of
setup that a lot of carp these days
don’t come up against very often.
As I’ve often said before, carp learn
by association, and if you can come
up with a type of rig that the carp on
your chosen water don’t come across
on a daily basis, then surely the
chances are it is more likely to make a
mistake if it’s not learnt how to deal
with that type of setup.
Hopefully this has given you some
ideas about how to mix up your chosen bottom bait rigs from the same
old setup a lot of people use. Just
because you stick to a standard bottom bait straight out the bag doesn’t
mean you can’t make it work for you
and gain an edge over the other
anglers. Keep thinking, and hopefully
you will still keep catching. n
