bank. It got incredibly hot, so I had to
find some shade in the trees behind
the swim. The first fish came at 10pm
that evening, a mid 20 mirror. Unfortunately, I had left the battery lead for
my baitboat in the trailer, so I couldn’t
use the baitboat. I wasn’t fishing at
distance, so I could cast both left hand
rods. That night we had a tremendous
storm that lasted all night with heavy
rain, thunder and lightning. Sunday
morning after the storm I had another
mid-20 mirror to one of the left hand
rods.
Action continued that day with a
30lb-plus fish from the left hand rod
close to the weedbed and a double
common from the far bank. That night
it rained again, and I had another take
at 5am in the pouring rain, a mid 20
common from the left hand rod. An
hour later, I had another take, a small
bright orange catfish and soon after a
mid 20 mirror. Lunchtime, I went for a
shower, which involves getting in the
boat and going down to the next
swim and walking the rest of the way
through the woods. I picked up the
baitboat battery lead and headed
back.
