Brecht Ramon with a wintery bar of gold caught from a public lake.
Graeme Connor spent 48 hours at Clayfields fishery, and it was very
very cold. He put out a single New Age boilie from Forza on a simple
hair rig with a Bank Tackle #6 hook, cast out to about a rod length and
half off an island. Scattering about 10 freebies around, it was left for
about 16 hours. At 1am, his alarm beeped a couple of times and then
it was off and running. It came in pretty easily, but once it was in the
net, he knew it was a new PB common, and it weighed 30lb 4oz.
Mylan Lyssens with a lovely, dark, 38lb mirror from a park lake.
Cold-water cracker for Buddy Robinson.
Ben Cooper from Ware, Herts has this 35lb from a Lea Valley water.
Ben said: “I was set up on the end of a cold northerly wind where I
never expected to find fish, but after seeing one show, it had to be
fished. I was fishing at 80 yards in 16ft of water, and bait choice was
the Crave 50/50 with the Source, as the fish seem to really love a
stinky fishmeal all year round. Half the bait was chopped into halves
as well. Also that night I had a 27lb 8oz mirror from the same rod,
same spot. It was an old original called Big Tail. I used a rig called the
slip D rig mated with a Complex T wafter.”
This scaly brute came a part of a four-fish catch for Lee Allwright at
the start of the year, which included three 30s to over 35lbs.
