Adam Dubar spent a four-night
session at Blackthorn Fishery in
Shropshire, landing three fish to
31lb 1oz, all caught on stiff hinge
rigs using Hybrid Tackle size 6
choddy hooks and Frost Choddy
material and Conda hooklink
material. Bait was a piece of cork
tipped with a dozen maggots with
maggots, corn and pellets spodded
over the top.
Catch Report
Chris Carline caught this 29lb carp with the aid of the 35mm
Castaway PVA mesh bags with a dozen part broken boilies in with a
pop-up over the top.

Joe Watson was on a 24-hour session with his cousins. He went on to
say: “We got down to the lake on the Saturday and got the rods out,
one on a multi-rig and the other on a double yellow corn stack and
had the NSR on hand if they were going to go off. We got the bivvies
up and everything set up, and the multi rig roared off, and after a tenminute battle, she was resting in the NSR. We got her out and it was a
lovely big-mouthed common of 13lb. After having the rod out for
another five minutes it was away on the corn stacks! After a crazy
little fight, it gave up and was again resting in the NSR. After that it
slowed up for an hour until the corn stacks went off again, and
another really quick fight followed, which felt like nothing was on,
but turned out to be a fully scaled mirror of around 5lb. We got both
rods reset after releasing it, and I had another bite ten minutes later,
with a little common of 7lb taking the multi rig, and while that was
on the mat, I had another take on the other rod, which was a lovely
mirror of 13lb. I had one more on the corn stacks too, which was my
biggest of the session, a 14lb ghostie, one of the known bigger
ghosties present in the lake!”
