Catch Report
George Livermore with one of his target fish from a tricky little
water, a fish known as Black Tail.
Richard Handel fished the Meadow Lake, and fortunately for
him there was no one else fishing. He used kilo of Smokey Jack
Spombed out to the spot, a wafter on one rod and a pop-up on
the other. The first take came on the Smokey Jack wafter rod
and he instantly knew he was into a big lump, and a big fat
mirror rolled on the surface and slid into his net. A mega fish,
and she tipped the scales at 38lb 2oz.
Glen Tyrrell with a special old common (The Carving) at 43lb.
Richard Handel chose to do 48 hours on Meadow Lake and made up
some of his groundbait mix with frozen Krill & Bloodworm with a
mix of Spotted Fin groundbait, with a load of pellets soaked on CSL
liquid. His first take came to the left hand rod, which had an 18mm
bottom bait on, and after a quick battle, he landed a carp of just
over 16lb. He tied up a couple of fluorocarbon line rigs to a size 6 SF
straight point hook, armed with three of the Go2 Wafters on. He
was woken up by the next take at first light and proceeded to reel
straight into what felt a bit like a bream until it broke the surface
some three rod lengths out and went crazy. Up and down the
margins, crashing around on the surface, it finally topped the scales
at 22lb 2oz. Coming to the end of the session and we all have that
last few minutes of hope, that one last fish. Would you believe it? I
heard the right hand rod reel whizz off, and I was attached to
another nice Meadow Lake carp, as luck would have it another nice
20lb’er and a nice end to the weekend.
Joe Watson had this gnarly looking common that gave a nice scrap,
and the Evolution Carp Tackle NSR did the business!
