Celsius in the day, then down to 3 degrees at night. I managed my
first fish of the trip on the following morning at a weight of 38lb 8oz,
so the pressure was shortly off, and it was a good start. As the week
went on, it appeared that the fish were definitely most active at night
time, and in the warm day times after a very cold night, the fish
would sit up in the shallows basking in the sun. Particularly in my
swim, the bites came every morning just before first light, and nearly
every bite of the trip came between 5 and 7am. It was almost like my
buzzer was the perfect alarm clock with a French cheese on the end
to start off a perfect day!
Dan and Jackie, the lake owners, treat you like kings on your trip to
Cherpont, and it’s fair to say Jackie’s cooking is pretty spectacular and
the desperados definitely taste better in France! Overall, I ended up
with nine fish throughout the week, compromising of: 48lb 8oz, 46lb
8oz, 42lb 4oz, 41lb 8oz, 39lb 8oz, 38lb 4oz, 37lb 2oz, 35lb and 34lb
12oz. It’s fair to stay Cherpont is a stunning venue with lovely looking
carp. Will, I be returning next year? We’ve already rebooked!
