Reuben Heaton Total Weighing
Solutions and Eagle Claw
SHOW TOURS EXTENDED
I
ndustry stalwart Reuben Heaton will be
embarking on its biggest ever run of shows and
events during 2018. The iconic scales brand is
now linked with many of the top regional, national
and international angling events each year, and its
event support programme is set to increase yet
again.
“The Reuben Heaton brand gains a lot from its
links to world championship and world record series
events but we felt that there was more to be had from
grass roots and specialist events” said owner Andrew
Race. “In 2017 we expanded more into kayak and
street fishing with our brand awareness programme
for both Reuben Heaton and Eagle Claw brands”.
“Our extended 2018 event programme which
includes the Northern Angling show for the first time
and rejuvenated Tackle & Guns trade event, will take
our brands right across the UK and Europe.
Carp competition coverage in 2018 will extend
to the British Carp Angling Championships (BCAC), British Carp
Cups, British Young Carp Anglers Championships, Junior Carp
pairs, Forces Carp and Carping for Heroes to name but a few. The
company is also preparing for the 20th anniversary of the World
Carp Classic, an event that it has supported from the start.
The company’s Total Weighing Solutions (TWS) project
continues behind the scenes producing brand-new additions to
both scales and weighing accessories due to come on stream
later this year. The latest addition to the 7000 Series digital range
pushes the tolerance boundaries even further with a new
specialist digital model weighing down to just 5g or ¼oz. The
software upgrades that have enabled the new 7015/200 model
(15kg x 5g / 33lb x ¼oz) to achieve such a high resolution are
now embedded in the entire 2018 range including the larger
30kg/60lb and 60kg/132lb models.
“Over the last twelve months, we have been refining our
software for both the 7000 and 9000 ranges to attack some of the
more discerning commercial scales markets and this inevitably
leads to benefits for our specialist angling products” said Andrew.
Part of the reasoning behind the extended events programme
is also to improve awareness of the Eagle Claw specialist hooks
development programme. The first of these specialist hook
projects surfaced in late 2016 with the Trokar Magnum carp hook
range. These hooks proved very popular and quickly gained a
reputation for performance via the carp fishing grapevine. So
much so that some patterns sold out during the winter making
availability difficult early 2017. Lesson learnt, and the elusive
Magnum range is now fully stocked with all patterns and sizes for
2018 and anglers will be able to access the hooks via the
dedicated retailer list on the web site and via some of the shows
such as The Big One during the year.
“The Eagle Claw project is a very exciting one for us. We are
helping to develop a whole spectrum of patterns for the UK and
European market and specimen hooks form an integral part of this
with patterns for carp, catfish and other freshwater species”. “Eagle
Claw have been manufacturing hooks for more than ninety years
and the level of engineering that goes into their hooks is no less
than we apply to our scales”. The materials involved are of the
highest quality and dedication to detail is paramount”.
The company’s 2018 price list and dealer programme will
launch at the end of March 2018 and precedes a hectic run of
events right throughout the year leading towards a brand-new
catalogue launch at Tackle & Guns in October of this year. It will
be interesting to see what patterns emerge from the Eagle Claw
catalogue during 2018.
