Catch Report

A fantastic start to the year for Karl Bandreth, landing a
monster 33lb mirror and new PB for him, caught with the aid of
products from Evolution Carp Tackle.

Micky French from Middlesex fished the Yateley complex for the
first time. After a five-month break, he blew the cobwebs off the
rods and headed off and instantly managed to kick off the year
using a Tiger Nut cork ball pop-up over a silt gulley at 40 yards,
resulting in a 37lb 4oz common, caught on a hinge stiff link.
Here’s a lovely 27lb common from a local club lake in the southwest
for Richie Leat, fishing a prebaited spot with Frenzied Hemp, Tiger
Nut boilies and Complex-T pellets soaked in Evolution oils. Crazy
weather was coming but perfect for this lake. Winds up to 80mph
helped me land seven in a work overnighter, three being 20lb-plus
and all caught on Ronnie rigs baited with Tiger Nut pop-ups with
maggots flossed to them.
John McGee went to one of his club’s local waters in Essex for a
couple of nights, and he slipped his sling under the fish and hoisted
its bulk into his cradle right there in the water. He could tell without
any scales he was looking at a new PB. With it unhooked, and up on
the bank, he looked it over – a pristine old water hog, topping the
scales at an impressive 33lb 5oz. He had smashed his PB by 6lb! It
was the only catch on the lake whilst he was there, and he was
indeed chuffed to have finally achieved his goal of a UK 30.
