Sid Dubey popped out for another quick overnighter and managed
two carp, both with the help of Evolution Carp Tackle baits and
Tom Milson with a 26lb 9oz mirror after thinking the day was going
to be a blank. He had every kind of winter weather you could
imagine: rain, sleet, hail, wind and even a bit of sunshine! It was
absolutely freezing, and the fish felt like ice.
Dan Steeples popped out for a quick afternoon session, his first
time on the bank this year. He still had some of the UK Bait
Company Pro-Nut left and just as he was leaving on a blank, he was
rewarded with this lovely little upper double that fell for the ProNut topped with a chopped pink Pro-Nut pop-up.
Richie Leat with a 34lb 10oz carp, and the rest didn’t get weighed,
as all slings were already full up. A very successful night after work,
he got the rods out in the dark, fishing three rods in one spot and
fishing at 16 wraps to a spot he has caught from before – a lovely
silty gully around a weedy area. He was feeding Tiger Nut boilies
ground up and lots of chops with only a few whole boilies and Tiger
Nut Liquid and Frenzied Hemp. Tiger Nut and Complex-T pellets
soaked in Evolution oils plus four pints of maggots added to the
mix, also covered in the Tiger Nut liquid. A crazy feeding spell gave
four fish in a couple of hours, caught on a Ronnie rig with Tiger Nut
pop-up with 16 maggots flossed to the top to hide the pop-up PVA
mesh bag every cast with ground boilies and maggots.
