Carp Bottomed Out
My Scales at 41lb 8oz
By Kevin Osborne
have recently joined a local
water.......Moorgreen Reservoir Carp Fishery. It was my
third visit to the water....a
24hr session Sunday 31st
Aug 2008 to Monday 1st
Sept 2008.
I spent a good hour trying find
some good clear patches in the weed
during a huge, long downpour. Satisfied with 2 clear patches and that the
rain had eased off, I baited up and
cast 2 rods to these clearings and the
third into a weedbed.
It was about 5.00pm when I had my
first run, but unfortunately it locked
me up in the weed and escaped.
During the night I lost another but
at 8.00am on Monday all low feelings
of having lost two fish were forgotten
when another Delkim burst into full
volume. Eventually in came a beautiful mirror which bottomed my scales
at 41lb 8oz. This superb fish was captured on a nutrabait pineapple pop up
on a korda hybrid hooklink connected
to a korda size 6 wide gape hook with
a korda 3oz inline lead, popped up
2inch,about 60 yard out in a clear
patch, complete with a 4 bait stringer
and approx 20-30 freebies. My Kevin
Nash pursuit 12ft 2 3/4lb test curve
rods and Shimano 8010 gt baitrunners
loaded with Gardner gt80 12lb line
certainly stood up to the battering on
that well as myself.
This beauty smashed my personal
best by 12lb. I was and am still over
the moon with this personal best,as
anyone would be, but a little thought
still big was it really?
This has inspired me to get out and
catch it again now that I’ve got
myself a brand new set of 60lb scales.
