The One That Got Away!
W
ell, what a
right old mixture
of
weather we
have had over
the last couple of months. At the start of the year
we had winds followed by a warm
spell then before we knew it we had
freezing conditions, then snow followed by more freezing conditions.
Once we came out of that we had a
warm spell again, and yet today as I
sit writing this on the banks of Richmond Park, it’s pretty bloody cold!
Despite all this though we are now
fast approaching the time where light
levels are better and it’s hopefully
only a matter of time before the fish
start gracing the banks in numbers. I
did actually already have this diary
written as I did it last week, but due to
being bloody useless with computers
and doing something wrong, I ended
up deleting the whole thing by mis-

take. I therefore have had to do it all
again, which is most annoying. Still,
it’s my own fault and just goes to
show that I need to learn more about
technology.
Anyway, I’ll start as I always do,
and that’s with any captures from
friends that I have received. This
month there is just the one, as most
people have found things tough
going. Richard French was soon back
out on the banks of his chosen water
after Christmas, and it wasn’t long
before I had a text off him saying that
he had caught his first carp of 2012 in
the shape of a stunning 31lb 6oz mirror in its full winter colours. I’m sure
you will agree that it really is a stunner when you look at the pictures he
sent me. His time has been limited
since that fish, but I’m sure it won’t
be long before he gets amongst them
again.
Ok, on to what I’ve been doing. I
